Director Graduate Medical Education - University of Chicago Medical Center Job Summary The position provides leadership and organizes resources to enable the institution to achieve the strategic initiatives of the GMEC and ensure substantial compliance with accreditation standards related to Graduate Medical Education. Responsibility for planning, organizing, leading, implementing monitoring and evaluating department functions at the administrative level, including fiscal management. Leads the administrative effort to achieve co-ordination of GME activities among the various departments and programs. Develops proposals for allocation of resident and fellow program allocations consistent with the strategic initiatives of the Medical Center and the Biological Sciences Division. Job Qualifications Education: Minimum of a Masters Degree preferred, preferably in Business Administration or Health Care Administration or other curriculum which provides the knowledge and skills fulfill the mission of the Office of GME. Work Experience: Minimum of 10 years of work experience with substantial portions of this experience in an academic medical center and as a leader. Specific skills: Competency in business and fiscal management; an effective collaborative team leader, independent problem solver and decision maker; good analytic skills around administrative program and process redesign; able to bring about a GME culture change; quick learner about ACGME (graduate medical education) institutional standards; general working knowledge of operations within a fast paced, complex healthcare environment.
