Director Medical Education - St. Mary Mercy Hospital, Trinity Health

St. Mary Mercy Hospital is affiliated with Trinity Health, the largest health system in Michigan, and the 3rd largest catholic health system in the Country. The 304 - bed, acute care hospital, is located in southeast Michigan. St. Mary Mercy Hospital provides 45 specialties and subspecialties, with ninety-five percent of the medical staff board certified.

The Director of Medical Education position has been created to provide the leadership and administration for implementing 8 new residency programs. These programs include: Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Obstetrics, Surgery, Transitional Medicine, Psychiatric and Behavioral Medicine. The Director of Medical Education reports to the Chief Medical Officer.

The Director is responsible for the hospital's affiliation agreements with other hospitals and medical schools, as well as the billing for associated services. Managing the internal accreditation reviews for Graduate Medical Education programs and developing the processes for the recruitment of residents are also key roles for this position.

Requirements for this leadership position include a Master's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Education, or a related field. A minimum of 10 years management experience in graduate medical education, along with accreditation experience is also required.

Applicants for this position must be highly competent in fiscal management and possess the ability to solve complex problems and issues. Excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills are essential. Proven skills in working with budgets, statistical data, spreadsheets, billing and reimbursement reports is vital. Applicants must have solid computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software. Current knowledge of national regulations to ensure administrative compliance with accrediting councils and accrediting bodies is also required of all applicants.
