Vice President Medical Education Riverside Methodist Hospital, the flagship hospital of the OhioHealth Health System, is recruiting candidates for the newly created position of Vice President Medical Education (VPME). Witt/Kieffer, an executive search firm specializing in healthcare and higher education, has been retained to assist in this important search. Working with a voluntary medical staff of more than 1,200 physicians who deliver the most advanced healthcare available, Riverside is recognized locally, regionally and nationally for its quality care, service and reputation. Consistently named the hospital of choice by central Ohio residents, Riverside has been named a Solucient 100 Top Hospital beginning in 2001 through 2007, placing the hospital in the top two percent of hospitals nationwide. Medical education is a pillar within the culture of the institution. Voluntary private attending physicians are the mainstay of the teaching faculty with a small contingent of retained physicians for education of residents. Riverside has six residency programs and two fellowship programs that are based out of the institution totaling approximately 122 residents/fellows annually. Riverside also serves as one of the teaching sites for the Ohio State orthopaedic residents and Ohio State Medical Students. Riverside is also home to the Center for Medical Education and Innovation, a nationally-recognized multi-level educational institution which has led in modeling and infrastructure for appropriately ever-increasing standards and requirements in medical education at every level. Reporting directly to the CEO of Riverside, the VMPE will be responsible for all aspects of medical education including fulfilling the educational and academic strategic direction of the institution. The VPME will be expected to be an active participant and member of the senior executive team of the hospital representing GME's interests to the administration and acting as a partner of administration to fulfill the mission and vision of Riverside as a whole. The VPME will represent the institution on a national level at AAMC and the Alliance of Independent Academic Medical Centers. The successful nominee or applicant will be MD/DO prepared who is board certified in an ACGME accredited clinical discipline and eligible for licensure in the state of Ohio. Ideally, the candidates will possess a Master's degree in Education, Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field. The candidate will have 7-10 years of administrative experience in graduate medical education or medical academic affairs, preferably in an independent academic teaching hospital or an academic medical institution. The candidate will have a thorough understanding and knowledge of all requirements as required by the Residency Review Committee and ACGME and individual Resident Review Committees.
