Women's College Hospital (WCH) is Canada's pre-eminent academic ambulatory hospital dedicated to women's health. As Ontario's first and only independent ambulatory care hospital, WCH has broken new ground in vital health areas – primary care, skin cancers, osteoarthritis, HIV treatments for women, mental health, diabetes, and cardiac rehabilitation. A fully affiliated teaching hospital of the University of Toronto, WCH is home to Canada's largest research institute dedicated solely to generating knowledge about the healthcare issues of women.
Women's College Hospital is moving forward to establish itself as a provincial leader in education and research, and as an academic catalyst for state-of-the-art ambulatory care. With construction beginning in 2010, its state-of-the-art 500,000 square foot ambulatory hospital will utilize unique interprofessional teams and cutting-edge technology to deliver timely diagnoses and on-the-spot care. A newly approved Centre for Ambulatory Care Education (CACE) will further the knowledge in models of ambulatory care education. In partnership with the University of Toronto, the Centre will educate students in ambulatory settings.
Reporting to the President & CEO of WCH, the Vice President, Education will provide leadership of the hospital's undergraduate, graduate and continuing health professional education programs and activities. He/she will work collaboratively with health sciences professionals internally and externally at the University of Toronto and its affiliated teaching hospitals, and with other academic, regulatory and government organizations. The Vice President, Education will hold an academic appointment within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, and will serve as the Inagural Director of the Centre for Ambulatory Care Education, reporting jointly to the University's Dean of Medicine in this regard.
The successful candidate will be an experienced educator with a solid background in education leadership in an academic or teaching hospital setting. Candidates must have an MD and be eligible to practice in Canada and to be licensed within the province of Ontario.
