SUMMARY:

Assumes overall responsibility for all projects within group. Directs and coordinates the assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation of projects, including the acquisition of necessary tools and resources. Assigns DOE staff and coordinates these with those of departmental personnel in a matrix relationship to various projects and directs their activities for the project. Evaluates performance of staff and prepares reviews. Confers with external affiliations, regulatory agencies, vendors and other third parties regarding new services, opportunities, problems, enhancements and implementations.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Experience:

a. Progressive leadership and management

b. Minimum of eight (8) years experience and minimum five (5) years progressive leadership and management.

c. Demonstrated experience in project management, customer service, consultative skills, instruction and curriculum, educational theory, instructional technology, assessment and evaluation.

2. Education:

a. Masters degree in related field required

b. Secondary master's degree, graduate fellowship or PhD or relevant professional credentials beyond masters preferred.

3. Training:

a. Excellent problem solving skills. Ability to synthesize input from many sources, to discern key issues which need to be addressed, to hypothesize solutions to a variety of problems and to involve key stakeholders in finding the best solution to a problem.

b. Research and writing skills, including literature reviews, survey development, training curricula, reports, white papers, and proposals.

c. Vision and dedication to being a pioneer in redefining educational solutions for adult learners but with the strong results orientation needed to implement systems and procedures to make this vision a reality.

4. Special Skills:

a. Work requires broad knowledge of the use of information technology in the design and delivery of communications and educational solutions. This includes the use of technology both in the teaching and learning process and simulation environment.

b. Sound theoretical and practical knowledge in the area(s) for which responsible including learning theories and contemporary teaching methodologies. Active membership in professional organizations.

c. Must be computer literate. Possess excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; organizational and time management skills, and able to multitask. Able to work a flexible schedule.

d. Knowledge in the areas of education and training needs assessment and analysis, research, benchmarking, instructional design, delivery and facilitation techniques, adult learning theory, training evaluation and measurement techniques.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND OUTCOMES:

1. Directs and manages graduate medical education programs:

1.1 Directs administrative functions of the Graduate Medical Education services to provide institutional support to residency programs including but not limited to contracts, licensure, certifications, immigration and visa processing, and orientation activities.

1.2 Manages graduate medical education functions such as institutional policy implementation, program development, internal review process, accreditation compliance, CMS reimbursement, and academic development.

1.3 Ensures LVHN's compliance with medical education accreditation requirements of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).

1.4 Prepares individual residency programs for ACGME site visit including conducting mock site visits.

1.5 Manages the design and development of institutional curriculum for medical students, resident physicians, fellows, faculty physicians, and GME leadership.

1.6 Oversees online resident management systems, the residency program internal review process, and the residency program annual review process.

1.7 Oversees the completion of ACGME, NRMP, AMA and WebAds website databases as required and the planning of GMEC meetings and agendas.

1.8 Develops and implements (along with DIO and Graduate Education Committee) GME policies and procedures.

1.9 Responsible to provide annual reports and/or presentations to medical staff and governing body.

2. Directs and manages undergraduate medical education programs:

2.1 Ensure tracking of student progress, serving as a contact and liaison for student programs, appropriate communications, maintaining adherence to policies, procedures, and requirements and managing the staff.

2.2 Provide oversight of all clinical student rotations and youth education programming.

2.3 Responsible for compliance with affiliate medical schools' LCME requirements for student rotations at LVHN.

2.4 Develops collaborative relationships with medical school affiliate leaders, deans and staff.

2.5 Works with school affiliates on an ongoing basis to maintain agreements and to strategically address mutually beneficial needs, projects, and educational research.

2.6 Oversees the planning of Clerkship Council meetings and agendas.

3. Manages the University of South Florida College of Medicine/LVHN's medical school program.

3.1
Provides oversight and collaboration on admissions, curriculum, faculty affairs, finances, governance, accreditation, and student affairs.

3.2 Develops and implements policies and procedures along with Clerkship Directors and Associate Dean of University of South Florida College / Lehigh Valley Health Network medical school program.

3.3 Oversees the planning of operational meetings and agendas to support the Regional Medical Campus.

4. Manages human, financial, and material resources:

4.1 Interviews, selects and hires section specific personnel in collaboration with the division Administrator or Chief.

4.2 Annually prepares operating, personnel and capital budgets in collaboration with the division Administrator.

4.3 Monitors budget reports, justifying expenses as necessary.

4.4 Resolves issues and problems that may arise with staff and students and provides training opportunities for employees.

4.5 Supervises special projects; planning, and directing activities, determine requirements, and manage project to successful implementation within budget constraints.

4.6 Seeks alternate funding sources, such as grants and partnerships.

5. Collaborates for short and long range planning:

5.1 In collaboration with division Chief, Administrator, and department staff develops goals for the department and/or services which are measurable, time limited and consistent with the mission, strategic plan and performance improvement plans of the hospital.

5.2 Supports the performance improvement program and works collaboratively with others to identify needs, recommend and operationalize positive changes on a department/ organization level using concepts, principles and skills of continuous quality improvement.

6.1 Creates and supports a work environment which recognizes, inspires, encourages and empowers others to contribute according to their identified and potential strengths and abilities.

6.2 Consistently delegates appropriately, including making appropriate assignments, providing resources and guidance, conducting timely follow-up and evaluation and being accountable for all delegated activities.

6.3 Facilitates the involvement of staff in department operations including establishment of department personnel policies/practices.
