As the Vice Chair Administrative Director, Graduate Medical Education, you will be responsible for the oversight of all Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs and management issues surrounding these programs at Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics (CMH) . This includes more than 143residents and fellows; 28 ACGME accredited or CMH approved training programs. You will also interface with our undergraduate medical education training programs where we are the core clerkship in pediatrics for the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. Over 400 students from a number of medical schools have clerkship and elective experiences annually at CMH.

Position duties include:

- Responsible for the development and maintenance of the GME website and design.
- Supervise Health Services Library and Continuing Medical Education (CME)
- Ensures Regulatory compliance and serve as a liaison between CMH and all national and state regulatory bodies.
     o Monitors compliance with and changes in accreditation requirements, maintains institutional and program accreditation documentation.
     o Assists with the preparation for internal reviews and accreditation inspections. Ensures scheduling of timely internal reviews, proper preparation, approval of reports and follow-up on recommendations.
     o Drafts and ensures execution of contractual agreements and program letters of agreement with external institutions for required rotations.
     o Manages duty hour compliance reporting system and data analysis.

· Management of GME office budget, forecast, budget, promoting growth and maintenance while controlling costs
     o Serve as a liaison with affiliated hospitals providing them all needed data in the event of reimbursement or joint commission
        audits.
     o Prepare appropriate financial reporting including IRIS reports, HRSA reports and CMS audits.

· Manage the Human Resource needs for more than 140 trainees. Including appointments, reappointments, diplomas, certificates, contract maintenance of records, credentialing, and licensures. Consult with CMH HR regarding terminations, disciplinary actions, payroll, benefits, policies and procedures, disciplinary action, grievances, and international affairs, visas.

· Responsible for the maintenance and training on New Innovations and other administrative databases, ensuring departments are aware of institutional reporting requirements, and able to provide needed data. You will serve as educational expert for GME programs, being aware of areas requiring development and providing appropriate training. This could be to train departments on new regulatory demands, or basic educational technique, such as assistance in writing goals and objectives for trainees. The GME office also serves as trainers for new program directors and coordinators who need development in new role.|

· Responsible for ensuring that all programs meet the regulations and requirements of all state and federal accreditation and licensures agencies. This is done through training and oversight. Types of activities include but are not limited to: Planning for recruitment, licensure, processing resident electives, NRMP and match data, ACGME/ WebAds data, and AAMC/FRIEDA data. Other responsibilities include educational development, educational evaluation and research, faculty development and educational policy development and implementation.

· Responsible for the administrative oversight of all activities of the GME committee and its subcommittees, managing office personnel to ensure the needs of the associate dean are met and that all activities meet the expectations of the ACGME. The office ensures that all programs and CMH meet the ACGME program, common and institutional requirements, maintain records, preparing paperwork and providing guidance.

· Responsible for all program administrators and clerkship administrators. You will work with and mentor the administrators on continuous improvement and professional development.

- Strong management skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead process improvements
- Demonstrated ability to lead hospital wide programs, ability to obtain management, staff and physician involvement and accountability
- Independent judgment
- Ability to multi-task and follow through with projects
- Experience with international student programs

Job Requirements:

- Doctorate Degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D,, MD)
       Healthcare, education, business or related field

- 5 or more years of recent experience in hospital management or leadership
      2 years recent experience in medical education preferred
      Demonstrated knowledge and experience with medical staff and medical education activities.
